Healthy Lifestyle?
This one has me scratching my head in wonder. My local gym offers exercise classes designed to improve cardiovascular health, burn fat, and tone muscles. Wonderful! And while we're moving those bodies and improving our health, ladies, how about a lovely bonus - some nice EAR-SPLITTINGLY LOUD, HEADACHE-INDUCING, BONE-JARRING music blaring at decibels that would rival a jet engine at takeoff. Yes, folks! Get healthy hearts and lungs while destroying your precious hearing due to prolonged exposure to loudness. I just don't get it! I don't care how old-fashioned and geeky I sound; super loud music during aerobics classes is just NOT cool. We can keep the level of noise sane while getting fit, can't we?

I totally agree with you! And I can't stand it when the class is filled with giggling young things.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, AJ! You aren't making yourself sound "old" at all. I am in a job where one of my responsibilities is to protect workers from exposure to noise. Experiencing ringing in the ears and slight hearing loss is something that I regret but have to face. I can't imagine that the gym would condone loud music like that! I'd go and turn it down!!!!

I agree with you. Some gyms do play it too loud. Give us lively and something that will make us move but not so loud we want to run out the door!
ReplyDeleteHahahaa I guess they think it's motivating? I'd buy some pretty earplugs.
ReplyDeleteOne hundred percent I agree with you! I love a great variety of music but love my hearing more.
ReplyDeleteI also hate when very loud music is played in restaurants and cafes so you can't talk to your companion or read if you're alone.
What about very loud people at the next table? We got the waiter to move us at lunch because the lady behind us had no idea what an "inside voice" was. Even three tables away we could follow her conversation without trying.
ReplyDeleteY'all are exactly right in my opinion!
