I was born for it. When I was a girl, I did enjoy the bustle of city life. Convenient shopping was a definite perk. Abundant opportunities to socialize with people were great. But somewhere along the way, I realized I was a homebody at heart. I prefer the quiet of rural life.
True, the nearest shopping mall is nearly 40 minutes away, and that's without traffic. But that's a small price to pay for my perks. Everywhere I look out my windows, all is green. Nights are so peaceful; it's easy to get uninterrupted rest unless we're visited by the occasional thunderstorm or hoot owl. The quietness here inspires. The peacefulness soothes. The slower pace rejuvenates.
I know it's not for everyone. If I didn't have friends, family, and a good car within easy reach, the solitude might overwhelm. But I wouldn't trade my life for bushels of gold.

I love living about half in and half out. what do they call that? suberbia? I love the city, but something does have to be said for the quiet and the stars of living farther out!
ReplyDeleteI love the country too, but after 20 plus years the drive out from town was driving me crazy!! So I was very lucky to find a small place in town that is hidden and feels like the country. Plus it is a small town, so that helps! My boys just live a couple of blocks away too:)
ReplyDeleteI am with you all the way!!! Grew up in the country, tried city and town life, just not for me. The neighbors just don't have to be that close!! Live on a farm now, and have raised 2 boys here. Wouldn't trade for anything.
ReplyDeleteI live in the city and long for the country! You got it made AJ!
ReplyDeleteI too enjoy having the cows for neighbors. Watching nature outside my window is one of my favorite things to do.
ReplyDeleteI love the country too :)
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, that sounds like such a wonderful place to live!! We would soooooo love to get out of this city and are hoping that, after retirement, we can get a little place out in the "country".
