Silver Lining
I'll have to admit it - I don't particularly care for summer. Bugs, sweat, and an abundance of weeds aren't exactly my thing. But finding a cluster of ripe red cherry tomatoes in the garden makes up for the muggy days. Discovering that the grape tomatoes and Romas aren't far behind in ripening gives me hope for the season despite the chiggers. Fireflies twinkling in the grass at dusk can't help but soothe and make me feel that all is right with the world. And the promise of autumn, my favorite time of year, is always on the horizon. Off to harvest some herbs to make an ice cold pitcher of tea. May your summer be blessed with fresh ripe tomatoes.

Mine aren't ready to pick yet. But, I hope to have some raspberries later in the week!
ReplyDeleteWell - one of my tomato plants has a flower! Does that count? I love going into the garden and picking fresh produce. But I agree, could do without the heat and the bugs.
ReplyDeleteI have tons of green tomatoes so it won't be long now! Love the blog :)
ReplyDeleteSummer = juicy tomatoes! I am keeping an eye on mine, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you. Summer is not my favorite season for all the reasons you cited. I do like those fresh tomatoes off the vine, however!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree re summer. Hot weather does not sit comfortably with me either! I, too, love autumn with the abundance of colour and wonder it has to offer not to mention a nicer temperature without the humidity!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to see others on my side about summer. I seem to get attacked my something that leaves little hard itchy red spots on me every time I go out.
ReplyDeletei don't mind the summer. i really like it. i love all the seasons..but the coming of fall is about the most wonderful time! You can just smell it, i love the coziness it brings!
ReplyDeleteI am so upset I didn't do my garden this year. I have no idea why I never got around to it, and now I'm missing all the tomatoes. :(
