Silver Lining

I'll have to admit it - I don't particularly care for summer. Bugs, sweat, and an abundance of weeds aren't exactly my thing. But finding a cluster of ripe red cherry tomatoes in the garden makes up for the muggy days. Discovering that the grape tomatoes and Romas aren't far behind in ripening gives me hope for the season despite the chiggers. Fireflies twinkling in the grass at dusk can't help but soothe and make me feel that all is right with the world. And the promise of autumn, my favorite time of year, is always on the horizon. Off to harvest some herbs to make an ice cold pitcher of tea. May your summer be blessed with fresh ripe tomatoes.

  2. Well - one of my tomato plants has a flower! Does that count? I love going into the garden and picking fresh produce. But I agree, could do without the heat and the bugs.

  5. I'm right there with you. Summer is not my favorite season for all the reasons you cited. I do like those fresh tomatoes off the vine, however!

  6. Totally agree re summer. Hot weather does not sit comfortably with me either! I, too, love autumn with the abundance of colour and wonder it has to offer not to mention a nicer temperature without the humidity!

  9. I am so upset I didn't do my garden this year. I have no idea why I never got around to it, and now I'm missing all the tomatoes. :(
